End of summer celebrations

We are entering the last week of our holiday programme which we have partnered up with many organisations to provide young people and families in the area activities as well as be provided with a hot meal each day.

So far we have engaged with 143 Young People over the course of the holidays as well as 8 families who took part in our feeding families’ sessions.

The young people have taken part in a range of activities from football provided by our partners at Bristol City Community Foundation where they have been working with primary school ages children to provide them with a daily session for them to enjoy.  We have also had a group of young people who have been taken part in 2 weekly sessions of Drama and we can promise you Hartcliffe and Withywood really has some great talent.

Another activity we have been running is a young people’s social action group for ages 13 to 16 years old. This has given us a great insight into how young people feel and the passion they have shown to make a positive change in our community has been so refreshing. The young people are keen to continue on this as we finish the holiday programmes. You can find out more about their project on their project page.

We have also been able to get out and do some detached youth work bringing activities to young people in Willmott Park such as being able to open up the bike container for young people and the wider community to use on Tuesday afternoons.

Overall this has been a great success and we look forward to continuing engaging with young people and the wider community as the summer ends and we move forward, looking to provide as many opportunities for all to enjoy as we can.

If you would like to find out any more information about our projects or want to discuss future plans please get in contact with me at zak.dugdale@hwcp.org.uk

Although we are entering the final week of the summer programme we still have lots to look forward to with activities continuing all week and on Wednesday the big community day which is 12-4pm at Willmott Park!

I look forward to seeing you all there and again a big thank you to everyone who has come along to the activities over the summer and all the partners that have helped make this possible.
